Metamorphosis Engineering School for EEE students @ Singapore Polytechnic
Description
Brief: Design a sustainable, innovative, and nurturing engineering school, using a structural steel system with composite roofs floors and roofs, in consideration of design compliance regulations.
Design Intent: The site is to become a ‘cocoon to emergence’ for interdependent and identity-forming learning.
Duration
Apr 2025 - Jan 2026
Key Contributions
Directed a team of five to design an astute and comprehensive site analysis presentation with high graphical clarity for a proposed engineering school development, achieving an A+ grade.
Delivered a high-quality presentation board and design compliance drawings within a tight deadline of one week each, demonstrating advanced time management skills for drafting, modelling, and building performance analysis (shadow range, wind and daylight hours).
Integrated sustainability design principles through terraced roof gardens, 237 solar panels that generate 182 times more energy than annual cooling loads, and recycled materials via cross-laminated timber stepped seating platforms and hempcrete roof garden pavements.
Demonstrated Skills
Team leadership
Creative problem solving
Time management
Technical drawing
Revit modelling and building performance analysis (shadow studies)
